Standard UK bed sizes are as follows. However not all manufacturers make all size options. Special sizes can be made to order.

All sizes quoted are subject to a standard manufacturing tolerance of +/- 2cm.

The following are the most common US bed sizes. However they might vary slightly from state to state

Divan Bases

Most UK manufacturers produce beds with platform top bases, sometimes known as padded top, which gives a firmer feel to the mattress, a sprung edge divan which provides softer feel and firm edge divan for a more support.

A platform top base has a solid board top and will generally give a firmer feel to the bed.

A sprung base has a layer of springs attached to the wooden frame and the mattress sits ontop of them. It gives a softer feel to the bed. In some cases, on more luxurious beds the base will contain a pocket sprung unit.

A firm edge base is sprung, but with a solid edge, giving additional support to the edge of the bed. They generally use larger springs than on a sprung edge base.

Drawer Configuration

Most beds have a drawer option. This in no way weakens the base.

• 2 drawers available on all sizes
• End drawer available on 4’6” and 5’0” only
• 3 drawers (2 drawers + end drawer) available on 4’6” and 5’0” only
• 4 drawers and 2+2 continental drawers available on all sizes other than single.

The end drawer option is very limited
